Okay, any help is welcome. But I'm guessing [hoping] you might be able to help me out on this one, Leo. So yeah. Just got to my dad's house now. Switched on the pc and I get a notification telling me that my Windows license isn't genuine I don't know what the fuck this means; I've had this computer for about three years or so now and I've never had any notifications like this. "This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation because the validation process could not be completed.
There are several possible causes:
* Your system level security settings prevented validation from running. * Your user account may not have the correct permissions necessary to run validation. * Your system settings have been modified in one of the following ways: o Security software may have been installed that inadvertently altered your Windows product ID. o The validation controls you used were downloaded from a site other than the Microsoft site. * You chose to run the validation controls in an alternate compatibility mode." Also, when I try to sign-in to MSN I'm immediately told that the service is temporarily unavailable. I'm guessing this is a problem related to the issue seeing as I was on MSN less than 20 minutes ago at my mum's and the MSN site says "All systems are stable and running.". I need help and fast. If anyone can guide me into sorting this I'll be very grateful.

This all stems from the fact that Microsoft are money-robbing bastards, that aside: This url should be useful. I'm not sure if the MSN thing is connected with the windows validation problem, I'm guessing it probably is. Follow that guide and try MSN again it'll probably fix itself. If MSN still isn't working you could always try Pidgin which is an IM client (like Windows Live Messenger)that does Yahoo, MSN and google all in one. Another way is to reinstall windows but that is a pain in the ass 'coz you'll lose your documents. I hope this is of some use, -Leo

Okay I've done all required and rebooted my pc; the notifications an' all that bollocks aren't popping up anywhere like they were but MSN is still fucking me off.. that link mentioned something about some versions of the crack just taking away the not genuine signs, but not actually making windows genuine. I'm wondering if the same is happening here...
(did that make sense?)

Yeah you can't make it genuine but it just stops all the warnings and stuff. I guess you could try re-installing MSN and see if it works then. You could use 'Pidgin' which I mentioned earlier if all else fails.
